Student Enrichment
Hour of Code
NSM participates in the Hour of Code, where students are guided by parent volunteers to learn computer programming.
Music for Minors
Music for Minors is a non-profit with over 40 years of expertise in elementary school music education. Their mission is to nurture children in a lifelong love of music.
Run Club
Students in grades 6-8 are welcome to join the weekly running club and take advantage of the bay trail path nearby.
Stage Crew
The NSM stage has been renovated with professional quality audio-visual equipment and aesthetic improvements. Managed by parent volunteers, students in grades 6-8 may join the stage crew to be trained and then be responsible for running and maintaining the stage and its state-of-the-art equipment.
Steel Drum Bands
Originating from Trinidad, steel drums are 55-gallon oil drums hammered to produce a whole range of chromatic tones. These unique pitched percussion instruments can be used to play a wide variety of music. NSM students in fourth grade and up can learn and perform the steel drums as an after-school enrichment activity.
Middle School Athletics
As part of the Art David Athletic League, our middle schoolers have the opportunity to participate in Cross-Country (fall), Boys or Girls Basketball (spring), and Track & Field (winter). Coached by our beloved PE teachers and parent volunteers, athletics provide students with opportunities to gain valuable life skills including effort, self-discipline and teamwork.
