Community Events

The PTA sponsors and organizes volunteers for many events throughout the school year. Events followed by a $ are also fundraisers for the PTA. Event dates subject to change -- when in doubt, check the calendar or look in the newsletter for the most recent information.

Greens & Grounds
Help keep our campus clean and beautiful! Volunteers are especially needed right before school starts to help our students and staff start the year on a high note.
Email greens@nsmontessori.org for more information.

Ice Cream Social
Our annual Ice Cream Social is held the day before school starts every year. It's an opportunity to catch up with friends after the summer, sign up for volunteer opportunities, get fingerprinted, make a donation to the school, find out classroom assignments, eat ice cream, and more!

Tea & Tissues
Start off the first day of school with our annual Tea & Tissues in the gym. This is a chance to relax with other parents after dropping off your children, to meet new people, and to learn a little about the PTA. Coffee, tea, and pastries will be served, and tissues available for those who need them!

Parent-Teacher Association Meetings
All members of our PTA are encouraged to attend our general association meetings where we discuss how things are going this year, fundraising, expenses, community, challenges, and more. Association meetings are held in August, November, January, March and May. Details can be found on our calendar.

Dining for Dollars (Dinner Nights Out) ($)
Want to skip the meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking for one night and eat out, all while benefiting North Shoreview? Join us for our monthly Dinner Night Out--bring in a flyer or mention our school, and NSM receives a portion of the proceeds! Past restaurants have included Chipotle, Jack's Prime, and Tomatina. Dates can be found on our calendar, and flyers will be posted at school and information published in the newsletter beginning in September.

International Potluck
Join NSM families for an evening of socializing, eating, and dance entertainment. Because our school is rich in cultural diversity, the potluck has always had a delicious international flair. The evening is finished with an amazing night of international dance performances put on by NSM’s own students, including American hip-hop, Brazilian samba, traditional Japanese dancing, Mexican folk dancing, and dances of the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands. It’s a show not to be missed.

Montessori Maker Faire, Math Night, and Magic Night
Whether it's math, making, or magic, we've got the night for you! Our fantastic Magic Night is sure to fascinate the mind with mystifying illusions. Our pi-licious Math Night makes for a calculating good time. Learning, creating, and laughing is always more fun with your community. Watch the newsletter for confirmed dates and more information.

Book Fairs and Read-a-Thon ($)
As a celebration of all things wild and read-erful, NSM holds book fairs in the fall and spring, one of which kicks off a fun month-long read-a-thon to boot. While technically fundraisers, these events encourage kids to be engaged with books and reading in a new way, which can help jumpstart a love of reading in kids of all ages. They also encourage practical life skills like money management, tax calculation, online skills, and more. Dates can be found on our calendar, and more information will be distributed leading up the events.

Dads' Club Movie Nights & Parent Education
Throughout the year, our Dads' Club hosts Movie Nights -- free to attend, kid-friendly films, plus dinner and movie snacks for sale. A fun way to keep the kids entertained and build community - a win-win!

Earth Day Celebration
Every year in honor of Earth Day, our Walking School Bus takes the kids from Seal Point to North Shoreview, along the bayfront, through the neighborhood, and onto campus by foot. The participating kids all get a free custom-designed t-shirt, Friday Morning Gathering that day celebrates our Mother Earth, and students across the school learn about being good stewards of the earth.

Art Show at Open House
To end a fabulous year, parent volunteers put together an Art Show in the gym, showcasing the wonderful art created by students in all grades throughout the year.

Dads' BBQ
The final event of our year is a party celebrating our wonderful community, put on once again by our amazing Dads' Club. The event usually includes field games, an inflatable obstacle course, amazing BBQ and sides prepared by the dads, live music, alumni reuniting, and even, when the occasion calls for it, the Warriors game playing on the screen in the gym.
