Shout-out to everyone who volunteers for NSM in any capacity - room parents, crossing guards, Count Me In hosts, poster makers, and more. We see you and thank you! Please remember to log those hours online on Membership Toolkit. This year, we’ve set a big goal of logging 6,000 volunteer hours across our K-8 program. Currently we have recorded 1,225 total hours. A special shout-out to Adam Fahey and family for logging over 70 hours to help with basketball coaching, math support, and safety patrol, and to Alexandra Schwartz also with over 70 hours helping with art lessons, gardening, and chaperoning field trips. Wow! Remember to keep logging, even after you’ve met the 30 hour minimum.

Un saludo a todos los que se ofrecen como voluntarios para NSM en cualquier función: padres de salón, guardias de cruce, anfitriones de Count Me In, creadores de carteles y más. ¡Nos vemos y gracias! Recuerde registrar esas horas en línea en Membership Toolkit. Este año, nos hemos fijado el gran objetivo de registrar 6000 horas de voluntariado en nuestro programa K-8. Actualmente hemos registrado 1.225 horas totales. Un agradecimiento especial a Adam Fahey y su familia por dedicar más de 70 horas a ayudar con el entrenamiento de baloncesto, apoyo en matemáticas y patrulla de seguridad, y a Alexandra Schwartz también por más de 70 horas ayudando con lecciones de arte, jardinería y acompañando excursiones. ¡Guau! Recuerde seguir iniciando sesión, incluso después de haber cumplido el mínimo de 30 horas.

Volunteering is a great way to learn more about our school and build connections. We ask our families to volunteer for 30 hours per year. Let us know how you might like to volunteer by filling out this general volunteer interest form, or let us know if you are able to help with these special projects. You should also be hearing from your room parent(s) throughout the year about opportunities to volunteer in the classroom or for the PTA community event that your class is helping lead. Don’t forget to log your volunteer hours here! Volunteer hours are collected and reported to maintain PTA’s federal tax exemption status. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, PTA must receive one-third of its support from the general public. The recorded hours from volunteers are proof of this. They are also used in advocating on behalf of children and as information in grant writing.

VOLUNTARIADO EN NSM

El voluntariado es una excelente manera de aprender más sobre nuestra escuela y establecer conexiones. Les pedimos a nuestras familias que sean voluntarias durante 30 horas al año. Háganos saber cómo le gustaría ser voluntario completando este formulario de interés general para voluntarios, o déjanos saber si puedes ayudar con estos proyectos especiales. También debería escuchar a los padres de su salón durante todo el año sobre oportunidades para ser voluntario en el salón de clases o para el evento comunitario de la PTA que su clase está ayudando a dirigir. ¡No olvide registrar sus horas de voluntariado aquí! Las horas de voluntariado se recopilan y reportan para mantener el estado de exención de impuestos federales del PTA. Como organización sin fines de lucro 501(c)(3), la PTA debe recibir un tercio de su apoyo del público en general. Las horas registradas de los voluntarios son prueba de ello. También se utilizan para defender a los niños y como información en la redacción de subvenciones.

We are so grateful to every single person on your team: Vicki Benson (librarian), Lauren Fong (L&L ToSA), La'aina Mo'ungaloa (office staff), Principal Fukumoto, and every teacher for embracing our 8th Annual Readathon. 

Congrats to Mr. Dalton’s class for being our school’s top readers! Those bookworms earned an extra recess.

GRITO DE LECTURA DE LA FUNDACIÓN SMFC ED

Gracias a los padres voluntarios que ayudaron a que este Readathon fuera un éxito: la enlace escolar Jane Skinner y la presidenta de la PTA, Dee Prasad. Estamos muy agradecidos con cada persona de su equipo: Vicki Benson (bibliotecaria), Lauren Fong (L&L ToSA), La'aina Mo'ungaloa (personal de oficina), directora Fukumoto y todos los maestros por acoger nuestro octavo maratón de lectura anual.

¡Felicitaciones a la clase del Profesor Dalton por ser los mejores lectores de nuestra escuela! Esos ratones de biblioteca se ganaron un recreo extra.

Thank you Mr. Dalton’s class and the Middle School for leading the way with this event. Shout-out to our parent volunteers (Adam Fahey, Allen Soohoo, Ana Mar Conejo, Ariel Alvarez, Chau Hoang, Clara Oribio, Hui Hui Huang, Manuel Olmedo Zazo, Meg McGinty, Meredith Macaulay, Michael Runge, Michelle Cwirco-Godycki, Stephanhi Klimt) and middle school student volunteers (Ahkil, Alex M., Alex R., Atu, Blake, Ian, Jorge,  Kendal, Levi, Linh, Margo, Miles, Ronan, William) for making last week’s Math Night such a success! We had families spanning all grades playing games together and making math fun! A special thanks to the middle school students and parents who kept their commitment to volunteering even when their classmates were playing - and winning! - the boys basketball playoff game. Go NSM!

Gracias a la clase del Sr. Dalton y a la escuela secundaria por liderar el camino con este evento. Un saludo a nuestros padres voluntarios (Adam Fahey, Allen Soohoo, Ana Mar Conejo, Ariel Alvarez, Chau Hoang, Clara Oribio, Hui Hui Huang, Manuel Olmedo Zazo, Meg McGinty, Meredith Macaulay, Michael Runge, Michelle Cwirco-Godycki, Stephanhi Klimt) y estudiantes voluntarios de secundaria (Ahkil, Alex M., Alex R., Atu, Blake, Ian, Jorge, Kendal, Levi, Linh, Margo, Miles, Ronan, William) por hacer que la Noche de Matemáticas de la semana pasada fuera todo un éxito. ¡Tuvimos familias de todos los grados jugando juntas y haciendo que las matemáticas fueran divertidas! Un agradecimiento especial a los estudiantes de secundaria y a los padres que mantuvieron su compromiso de ser voluntarios incluso cuando sus compañeros jugaban y ganaban. - el partido de playoffs de baloncesto masculino. ¡Vaya NSM!

Este año, nos hemos fijado el gran objetivo de registrar 6000 horas de voluntariado en nuestro programa K-8. Actualmente hemos registrado 800horas totales. Recuerde registrar esas horas en línea en Membership Toolkit y siga registrando incluso después de haber cumplido el mínimo de 30 horas.
